The Palestinian International Organization for Peace and Human Rights is following with great concern the continued obstruction by the Israeli occupation army of the direct and safe delivery of humanitarian aid to the residents of the Gaza Strip, by targeting the crews working to secure this aid.
In a new crime monitored by the organization on December 12, 2024, occupation aircraft targeted a group of crews tasked with securing aid on the outskirts of Rafah city in the southern Gaza Strip, which led to the martyrdom of 15 crew members.
This continued targeting of aid delivery personnel reflects a systematic policy aimed at deepening the humanitarian crisis in the Strip, keeping the population in a state of hunger and continuing the repercussions of the humanitarian disaster, as well as enhancing the manifestations of chaos and the spread of aid theft.
The Palestinian International Organization for Peace and Human Rights calls on all relevant parties, especially the countries that provide aid, to pressure the occupying state to fulfill its legal obligations as an occupying power, as decided by the International Court of Justice, by ensuring that humanitarian aid reaches the population in the Gaza Strip directly, safely and without any disruption.
It also calls on the international organizations concerned with the entry of aid to intensify their efforts to ensure the protection of security crews and their safe movement, in order to ensure that aid reaches those entitled to it as quickly as possible, given the urgent need of the residents of the Strip. It also calls on the independent international investigation committee to investigate these crimes and include them in the context of international accountability and prosecution procedures for leaders and officials in the occupying state.
